CORN: THE REAL TREASURE OF THE AMERICAS

Although European explorers came to the Americas searching for treasures of gold and silver, the real golden treasure they discovered was corn. Corn, domesticated by Native Americans, is one of the most diverse and important crops in the world. This exhibit highlights the history, diversity, and importance of corn as it evolved from a Mexican weed known as teosinte to a global commodity.
