How to Make a Corn Mural

Printable version (Adobe Acrobat Format)

Printable version of different sizes of mural grids. (Adobe Acrobat Format)

The World's Only Corn Palace of Mitchell, South Dakota creates new murals out of corn each year. The theme is selected by the Corn Palace Festival Committee. Themes of the past include Lewis and Clark, Everyday Heroes, and Transportation Through the Ages. Pretend that this year's theme is People in Your Classroom. Each person can make a 10-kernel by 10-kernel mural and place them either all together or around the classroom. Your mural should let people know who you are! Use different colors of corn kernels and be creative!

Try something a little larger! A 15 x 15 kernel grid. If you need more materials other grains can be a great filler. Try out dried navy beans, red beans, black beans, lentils, and peas for more creative flair.
